Not Sure If Bug – UM Activation Emails Not Sending

I set up a test acct for each of my user roles. One of them in particular, using a gmail address for email, input correctly, shows up in the new registrations, I get the alert to my registrations email, the test acct gets a redirect to a pending approval page…but when I approve it, nothing happens. um does not send out the activation or approval email. I’ve tried this 4 times and the same result.
But when I directly delete the test acct, um does send that gmail acct a deletion notification as I set it up.
I did not have this issue with another test acct for a different role. Just the one particular role isn’t sending any emails out to the test user acct. The alerts sent to the admin accounts do show up.
Am I missing a setting or something?
