D?se?bner1.jpg – the plugin doesnt rename it to neither a friendly browser name like: daseabner1.jpg

Really? To what is it renamed then?

rename it to the post title it is attached to

This could be an option, I am thinking in adding it… the problem is if you have many photos then I would need to add a counter at the end of the filename and this is messy, I prefer not to assign “randomly” a number (if you delete one photo, then there is a hole, that might be filled up by another photo with the same title but from something else for example)

    1) Its not renamed at all – thats my point hehe…

Oh, sure, i thought maybe if 1) didnt work, that this is what the plugin was doing..
Ah i see.. Well, if i come up with a idea on this i will be happy to share it with you…

    Thanks for this plugin!

Did you try to change the title? If you don’t change it, the title is actually… already renamed ??

I too thought the purpose of the plugin was to rename the media files according to the posts they are attached to for better SEO. If not, what’s it for? I saw some people saying it’s a godsend for people with a huge media library and people saying that you just need to change the titles and it will rename the files (or vice-versa, I didn’t get it). Either way… I’m confused. Not sure what the difficulty with numbering is either; plenty a bulk file renamer on the desktop does that.

andrelevy > It’s normally more useful, especially for SEO, when the filename depends on the Title of the media. In my case, photos contain EXIT and the title of the media automatically gets the title I set in LR (thanks to WP). My plugin then give it a nice filename instead of the boring DSC**** files by example. But that gives the power to the users to also change this title to anything they want. Each media will have its own name and that can be changed anytime.

Rename from the post title is not especially good for SEO since all the files will have the same name. Repeating content/filename was working for SEO only 10 years ago but now it’s about content and quality. The filenames should be cleverly chosen and all different.

About the numbering, it is not as simple. Imagine you delete a file, the boat-7.jpg in your post. Then there will be a “hole” in the counting. If you add another file, should it come boat-7? And if you forgot to delete references to this file then it will be replaced with a “random” new one. Imagine that in many automated process when content is created automatically, files are deleted/uploaded automatically, etc… If you had encountered as many cases as I did, you will see many dangers, and many users will come here and cry that it destroyed they website. Unfortunately, it’s like that…

That said, I will add this option in the PRO version. PRO users usually contact me when there is a problem to resolve it (FREE users just come here and cry out loud :p). I add advanced and potentially support-needy features in that version.

Hi I am new to word press and i have imported my site from wix. I have lots of horrible image titles. I have the free version and wanted to have a look at the pro version and see how it stacks up. School boy question how much is the pro version and where do i find it? Any advise gratefully received.

    Thanks
