Not stripping escape slashes from anything

This just happened all of a sudden. I didn’t just recently upgrade or install any new plug-ins. I was editing the header.php file in Editor and when I saved it escaping slashes appeared on everything which gave WordPress an error on almost every line. I had to go into Dreamweaver and find + replace all the escape slashes. This is happening in all the Pages and blog Posts as well.
