• On one of our customers websites we can’t make the plugin working.
It’s installed perfectly, API key is ok, but when we click on ‘Start reporting’ nothing is going to happen. It looks for a while that it starts, it’s saying ‘Starting Reporting’, but nothing is happening.

On 10 other websites it’s running perfectly.

    What to do?

    Hey Jan,

I have seen that happen before with my plugin. When it happened there was an error coming from the Google Pagespeed Insights API. Most common errors are handled by the plugin and you will see a notification, but in some cases it isn’t an error that the plugin knows how to handle.

    1. First make sure you are on the latest version of this plugin. Some of this error handling code had a bug in it that was only fixed in the most recent version
    2. Go to the “Options” tab in this plugin and open the “Advanced Configuration” section.
    3. If it isn’t already enabled, check the “Log API Exceptions” checkbox and then save options
    4. Attempt a scan of a page with the plugin, and then return to the “Advanced Configuration” section of the options page and click “View Logs”

If the problem you are experiencing is due to some error from the Google Pagespeed Insights API, the error should get logged here. You can post the error here and maybe we can make sense of it together.

Hey Jan, it sounds like it is working now? Did you need to update the plugin or was there some other cause?

Nothing was needed. When I reopend the website, all the results where there ??

I am having the same issue with the plugin not starting the scan. I tried starting the scan and don’t see the progress bar. No reports ever show up. I tested this Plugin on another one of our client sites and it runs perfectly but for some reason won’t work on this client’s site. I’ve re-created my API key 3 times, setup just a handful of custom URL’s to scan to speed up the testing, maxed out the Execution Time and checked the API error logs and nothing is displayed. When I look on Google Console it doesn’t even show any requests from the plugin. Did you have any other ideas on what to try?

I’m guessing you already made sure you are on the latest version of this plugin, but if not definitely start there.

Beyond that, it feels like something is failing server-side. If you are able to check PHP error logs that might be interesting to see what is going on there. Maybe the server is missing some required configuration / module for the Google API?

I will say as a sort of work around: one of the main reasons I added ‘custom urls’ with the bulk XML sitemap uploader was so that people could work with Client URLs but from their own WP dashboard. So you could take an XML sitemap of your client and use it on your own WordPress installation where this plugin is working well for you.

Let me know if you are able to find any more details about the failure and I’ll do my best to help diagnose.

    Matt,

No, it’s not serverside. I have two websites for a customer on the same platform. One site is in a folder of the other one. One is working. One not ??

    https://pricebusters.nl is working

    https://pricebusters.nl/zakelijk is not working

Hmm. I wonder if it has anything to do with the plugin being installed in a subdirectory. I can’t imagine why but it isn’t something I’ve ever tested. And from what you are saying all other variables are equal.

Were you able to check server logs or are you just guessing there are no errors there because it worked on the other installation on that server?
