not sprites — probably explains load time

  • I installed this and, wanting the grey-rollover effect, purchased what I thought was the extra icon pack with grey version. It turns out those are two separate products (my fault that I didn’t check, but really 24 euros for both?!) and worse, the download .zip file I got was empty.

    Having actually paid for it, but with no product in hand, I thought I’d just open up the image files and make my own greyscales. I was surprised to find that they don’t appear to use sprites! This may be why some people have issues with page load times slowing dramatically.

    I’ll be uninstalling the plug-in. If I hear back from the company promptly I’ll eat the loss on the purchase, but if they don’t get back to me within 24 hours I’ll challenge the charge. I have a hard time believing it’s a scam with so many positive reviews, but I tried downloading the file twice, and there’s simply nothing in the .zip.

    So they did get in touch quickly and told me that the zip file appears empty on Macs and PCs but isn’t, and I should upload it as is to the site.

    They also offered to refund the sale since I bought the wrong product. I think I’ll skip the plug-in given the non-sprite basis, but their customer service was prompt and polite.
