Not showing up on Catalog page. Also, not centered

I’ve got the same issues. The image is not displayed on the main catalog page at all. I don’t even see it in the source code.

On the product page, I managed to get it centered and properly scaled via css-hacks.

But again on the carousel below the product, it isn’t visible. When I play around with z-index, it is displayed, but not only over the image but also over the description which I of course don’t want. When I don’t change anything, I see a gray bar on top of the item titles which looks quite ugly.
