I have files on the internet but no web site. I have compressed all my files and downloaded but when I activate w/press on my c panel it just comes up basic page and url. If I remove the site I get all my files showing. I am using kiosk.
I am new to this, would appreciate any suggestions with out all the codes. If you want to get me lost tell me codes, if you want to help talk southern.
    Thanks the goose

  • Nothing that you said above makes sense, sorry.

Owning and administering a website + a blog = it is code. Lots of code. You either learn it or you hire a pro to do it for you. There is no shortcut and “southern” workaround, I am afraid.

Okay I’ll try this again. url truckinforgreen.com File index page only thing showing. How do I get my blog up instead.
    thanks for the comback.

Redirect truckinforgreen.com from cpanel to truckinforgreen.com/wordpress

i.e. In cpanel you should have an icon called Redirect, click on that and see what it tells you, should make sense.

I have redirected to w/press and reinstalled in c/panel. My URL is displayed on a blank w/press block page, not my blog. Getting closer.
Your doing good hotkee, keep coming with the ideas.

You have two installations of wordpress set up now when I go to

    truckinforgreen.com

    truckinforgreen.com/wordpress

If your real one is the second one, your redirect should be sending truckinforgreen.com to truckinforgreen.com/wordpress/ providing you have set it up Cpanel correctly.

Just a friendly reminder: if you want to keep your sanity, never use fancy redirects with WP.

I’m loosing my sanity more and more everytime I try something else.
The url is correct but the page is not mine. Its like truckinforgreen shows up on a w/press sample template. Do you think its not reading my files?
As far as fancy redirects, no need to worry I don’t know what that is.
    Thanks again, more hints.
Oh yeh hotkee, great site, did you do all the animation and cartoons?
    I love that frog.
    Thanks whgoose

That is correct about the redirect. In my C panel I can click on the w/press and my blog comes up the way it should, but when I type it up top for the search the blank blog comes up. How do I get it from the c panel to the internet?

If I type in truckinforgreen.com in address bar, the base directory shows up.

So your redirect is not pointing to truckinforgreen.com/wordpress

Check cpanel again, perhaps supply a screenshot to look at.

what is a screenshot? I have redone the redirect several times different ways, still the same thing. One time I installed on the cpanel it said I had duplicate file in my directory, so I deleted the 2nd set of files.
I just don’t know. If I can’t get it done today I am pulling it all down and paying someone to bild me a blog the way I want it.
    Keep plugging and thanks again.

this is with/out a doubt the most confusing thing I have ever tackled.

A screenshot is a picture file of what’s on your computer monitor; it shows us what you’re seeing when you sit at your computer.

The screenshot software I use is no longer available, or I’d tell you where to get it. Try googling it.

I’m new to WP and these forums too. Looks to me like what you’d do is capture the screen (aka take a screenshot), save it as a jpg file, upload that file to anywhere you like within your public_html area and make a note of the path to the screenshot.

Don’t see a public_html directory? Look for the folder that has your original index.html file. That’s the place to upload the screenshot to.

If you save your screenshot in your public_html directory as screenshot.jpg, then the URL to this picture would be https://truckinforgreen.com/screenshot.jpg

Once you’ve uploaded your screenshot, then come back to this thread to give us the URL to it so we can see the picture. Looks like all you have to do is put the cursor in the reply text box, click “link” above the reply box and type/paste the URL in the script window that pops up – and click OK.

In the immortal word of Keanu Reeves: whoa. That URL link in my post automatically created itself when I clicked the “Post” button. So skip what I said about clicking the “link” above the reply box & pasting the URL etc.

Odd. When I go to truckinforgreen.com I get the typical fresh wordpress install index page.

Well I gave my host support the old whoa is me and he went and deleted w/p and reinstalled. Well guess what it works now. The only issue I am having now is that old ugly w/p page. I’m scarred to try and change it. What can I do to put up a picture w/o messing things up?
You guys are great and I thank you for your imput.
