Not showing comment count with Disqus

I posted this in a reply to another topic, but I read somewhere if a thread is resolved I should start my own.

I have an issue where the comment count is not showing in the comment count area, as well as not showing in the sidebar widget.
I tried your suggestion you left in the other thread but it didn’t work.
I also enabled “Output JavaScript in footer” inside the Disqus settings, that didn’t work.
The comment count was working before activating this theme, so just to make sure, I deactivated it, and the count shows up in the default WordPress theme.
I followed suggestions on the Disqus website but nothing is working.

I would love to get this fixed because I’d like to continue using this theme, it’s quite nice.
