Not seeing newly FTP’d plugins on WP backend

  • I’m downloading plugins and they are showing that they are uploaded into my /wp-content/plugins/ folder, but when I log into the back-end of my blog I cannot see them to activate them.

    I know I have to update to the next version of wordpress and this might help, but I’ve lost my blog before and am quite frankly scared of it.

    Any ideas?

  • Are you making new directories for new plugins or just dumping PHP files into /wp-content/plugins?

    Yea, you should upload the zip/rar files directly into that folder and THEN uncompress them if you’re not sure. most plug ins that have addl content need the folder as a ‘source’ to work from… so if you dump everything into the ‘plugins’ folder, WP won’t recognize them.
