Not reducing seats until payment received

I have an event in EME that has a limited number of places, and require payment using Stripe.
If event guests only do the first stage of the booking, just filling out their name and email but they don’t make the payment, then EME still reduces the limited number of places.
So in theory someone could put in fake contact details and request lots of places but not make a payment, and legitimate customers wouldn’t see any places available.
Is there a way for EME to only reduce the number of available places if payment is made successfully?
