Not recognizing user passwords

I’m trying to set up user accounts.

I fill out the new user forms, assign them their own first name as a user name, and a simple password. However, when attempting to log in with the account I set up for myself, it says that the password was not recognized. I tried logging in as one of the other users, but had the same issue. And these are passwords like “dog”- so I doubt I’ve been misspelling them over and over again.

I am able to sign in as the overall administrator, and even tried giving the other accounts new passwords. I still can’t log in with them.
