Do you receive other email from your WordPress site?

    Checked your Spam folder?

There is another email address on the site for general information and yes, that receives email. I have checked my spam folder and there are no emails there.

And if I go to the Form Submission Log – there are no submissions on file.

Do you have logging enabled? It is turned off by default. If you have it enabled and there is nothing in the log then I suspect the submission process isn’t actually completing correctly. Have you verified you do not have any Javascript errors on your page when you load the form?

Where do I find “Logging enabled”?

I have not verified that I do not have any Javascript errors on my page when you load the form…how do I check this?

    Thread Starter aliack

    (@aliack)

Used Firefox and Chrome error console: There is no indication that there is a javascript error that I can see,

But it does appear as if the submission process isn’t being completed.

I deleted the form and created a new one…thought I’d start from scratch. But now I can not add a link to the google doc using the plugin buttons. Could this be because I am running WordPress 4.8?

Let me see if I can answer all your questions in one reply.

    1. The setting to enable form submission logging is on the “Advanced Options” tab of the plugins setting page (Dashboard > Settings > Google Forms).
    2. No javascript errors is a good thing. In FireFox they show up in the console and are usually pretty obvious.
    3. Deleting a form and creating a new one is unlikely to have much of an effect, good or bad. I recommend testing with a very simple, like one question or radio button simple, form so you aren’t answering questions just to see if the form submits. WordPress 4.8 has no adverse effect, I am running it on my own site as well as are many other people.

In your last reply you mentioned using the “plugin buttons” – what does that mean? There are no buttons that the plugin creates for the form. To test a form, I suggest using the form’s permalink which is available after you define a form on the Dashboard. That is the simplest rendering of the form, it should just have your theme and the form, no other content.

    Hi Mike –
thank you for the thorough reply…

    1. Thank you, I would never have found the “enable form submission” but it is now checked.
    2. Good.
    3.Good.

When I mentioned the plugin button, I meant, when I am creating a page/post and I want to insert the form, there is a button for “Google Docs Embedder” in the bar above the text box and the “insert” button is not active – but that’s neither here nor there. I’d prefer to simply create a link and have the form open in a new window. Which I have now done.

So, here’s an interesting bit of information… If I log into my Google account > Google Forms > Responses: I see all of the test responses I’ve been filling out. However, I have never received an email indicating that this form has been filled out and I am still not seeing the Form Submission Log populate with these responses. So, the google form itself is working, but the plugin integration is not, for whatever reason.

    Thank you, Ali

The Google Docs embedder is not not provided by my Google Forms plugin. You may have two plugins mixed up here which might be why you don’t see the email responses.

On the Dashabord there is a Google Forms menu on the left side. When you click, it you should see a list of forms you defined for the plugin to use. When you hover you mouse over the list, you should see the “Edit”, “Quick Edit”, “Trash”, and “View” choices under the form title. Select “View” to view your form using the WordPress permalink for your form.

If you are not accessing your form this way or by using the short code embedded on a page or post, then you may have my plugin mixed up with a Google Drive/Docs plugin.

Ahhhh…interesting. Yes, I had the Plugin Google Docs Embedder installed. It is now deleted.

If I click “view,” I get an “Oops! That page can’t be found.” Message

If I insert short code into my page, the form appears…sort-of. All of the questions are there, but none of the toggle buttons appear and there is no active Submit button.

If the “View” option results in a page not found error it means you need to re-write your permalinks. It is an easy fix. Go to your permalinks and note the current setting. Change the setting back to the default and save it, then immediately set it back to you what you had it set to previously and save it again. This will re-write the permalinks and the View function should work.

The second issue is due to the fact that you haven’t downgraded the Google Form within Google Drive. There should have been a warning on the Dashboard when you saved the form within WordPress. Follow the instructions here to downgrade a form.

Hallelujah – thank you Mike for all of your help. I finally have this form working correctly. Thank you for your patience and step-by-step instructions. Finally we’re good to go.
    Best, Ali
