• First, I am not sure if this is the correct place to put this question so I apologize if it’s not.

I am running Windows Web Sever 2008 R2 on a Hyper-V machine. I was able to install WordPress 3.1.1 fine. However, I am not able to receive the generated e-mails.

I’ve made posts in the Windows Server forums but most people tend to think it’s a WordPress related issue. I personally think it’s a IIS configuration issue. It could be both but I am not really sure.

Windows Web Server 2008 R2 (Firewall is turned completely off)
    IIS 7.5
    WordPress 3.1.1

Any help would be much appreciated!

Seems stupid, but have you checked your spam/junk?

By default, all my mails for new WP sites get junked first until I ‘mark as safe’.

Yes, I have checked my Spam/Junk folder. I’ve also tried sending to multiple e-mail addresses. Still doesn’t work.

    Which generated emails are these?

Like the WordPress installation. Also, I use Gravity forms. Those don’t work either.

Again, I tend to think it’s some kind of configuration setting in IIS. I disabled the firewall just to make sure it wasn’t that which it wasn’t. I don’t think the Hyper-V host should affect sending out e-mails (at least that’s what I’ve been told).

Thanks for your reply esmi. I don’t think that will really solve my problem. Yes, I do have an SMTP server (Exchagne 2003) but I am not wanting to use it. From my understanding, IIS is supposed to send out e-mails itself without having to have an external SMTP connector.
