Like many other posts on these support forums, I’m encountering issues receiving email notifications for new comments (and even for the reset password link).

I have my WordPress installed on my own domain, e.g. example.com. The email address I’m having trouble with is [email protected] and is run through Google Apps.

I only experience the lack of email notifications when I have the [email protected] email address in WordPress. If I change it to a Gmail address (or any address which is not on the same domain) the issue disappears.

I have checked all of my email notification settings, so it is definitely not that. I believe it is an issue with email authentication or sending to an email address which is on the same domain.
I read somewhere something about SMTP authentication. I don’t know what that is, but could that be my issue?

    Can anyone help?!

I contacted my webhost and it turns out this was an issue with my cPanel settings. I use 3rd party DNS management so I needed to change my mail exchange settings in cPanel. See below the advice from my webhost support team:

As your domain uses 3rd party DNS, our server doesn’t know to automatically flick the switch in attempting to deliver mail for adamjaffrey.com externally. To address this issue, simply login to your cPanel > goto MX Entry > Set Mail Exchanger to Remote. Once set, this will resolve your issues immediately.

FYI, this fixed my issue immediately in its entirety! ??
