Not Receiving Activation Link for New Users

    Hello!

    I am in the process of testing this forum before we go live, and I can’t seem to get an activation link to send to an email when I sign up as a user. It’s recognized that my email has already been used, but I never received an activation link to become a user.

    Can someone assist?

  • Hi there,

    Discussion Board uses WordPress for sending emails, so if you’re not getting emails, then there is an issue with WordPress sending emails from your server. there are generally two reasons for mail not being received:

    1) The email ended up in a spam folder (did you check the spam folder for the email)
    2) Your server is unable to send the email

    If the email is not in your spam folder, I would recommend getting in contact with your Web host and ask why email is not being sent. Otherwise, I would suggest that you use a service like Mailgun (https://www.mailgun.com/) to send email. Mailgun has a WordPress plugin you can install and when setup, you are almost guaranteed that the email will be delivered,

    Thanks for your quick reply, Matt!

    Apologies for the need for clarification, but I want to be sure I’m contacting the correct person (hosting) for the correct troubleshooting before doing so :).

    The site admin email received an email saying that our new test user was created, but that test user hasn’t received an activation link. Is that something to do with the test user’s email service, the plugin, or our chosen site host?

    Nothing was in spam.
