• This is an absolutely wonderful idea, but needs further work, starting with an upgrade to WP 4.1 support. As it is, it has the following problems:

    1. The “Blog This” button doesn’t work
    2. Nasty OPML import with funky characters in titles

    Features needed:

    1. Sync between WP blogroll and Orbital so you can add or delete from either one and have the changes reflected in the other.

I see that the developer has apparently abandoned this plugin and is now working on a project called WordpRSS, based on TinyTinyRSS, but the link on GitHub is empty. I think I’ll try myself, even though I’m just a “cargo-cult” programmer.

    Hi Dave,
I’m the developer and this plugin isn’t abandoned. WordpRSS was the old name for orbital before everyone told me that having a confusing name no one could pronounce was a terrible idea.

I’d love to troubleshoot with you if you have some time.
This plugin should be fully compatible with 4.1.2 as that’s what I’m running on my test server. I’d love to hear about any issues and see if we can track them down.

Can you email with anything about the OPML import? A sample file that causes the problem would really help me troubleshoot. As for the blog this button it looks like it broke recently. I’ll take a look at it now!

In fact, since you’re a dev – do you want to team up? I’d love to work with someone and it would be a pain in your patookus to go through all the issues I already had to fight through.

Oh – also – I started the project partially because I was frustrated that my feed reader didn’t sync with my blogroll widget.

As of the latest version, you can now have a blogroll widget that features your orbital reading list – you can choose to expose an opml link as well!

As for going in the reverse direction, that’s a pretty good idea. It should be pretty easy to implement using the existing code – do you want to do it? I can assist you.

Hi Dave I’m having trouble reproducing any problems with the blog-this button. Can you contact me to show me any issues? It works fine on my test installs and I’d love to make sure it is working for everyone.

I’m afraid I can’t help you now, as I’ve abandoned WordPress and gone to Blogger instead. Very much as with my experience as an audiophile 40+ years ago, when I ended up spending more time tinkering with the equipment than actually listening to music, I was spending more time tinkering with WordPress than actually writing. In fact, I actually spend most of my time on Google+.

    Good luck.
