Not publishing, not previewing

This is my first attempt at a website. I added info to the pages and hit “save & publish” and then go to view and the website is the old simple template I first tried. (a simple format from the web host that was too limiting and now I don’t know how to remove that one as I try and get a better one up).
Is there a way to preview the site as a whole before publishing?
