    Hey guys,
Unfortunately this plugin and the Genesis Simple Share plugin are conflicting each other, leaving a javascript error in the Genesis Blocks Post block when adding an excerpt to it.

In order looking for a solution I saw this has been reported on the AB plugin a while back. Was wondering if this can be solved or if I need to look for a different sharing solution.

I don’t have a link right now. I disabled the share buttons on the posts that were included in the post block.

    Hi there,

This has not been resolved at this time. The quickest way to temporarily fix it would be to disable the option in Simple Share that shows it on archive pages, this will remove it from the post grid too. Or for the time being, you could look at a different share plugin, I am very sorry.

    Hi Corinne,
Thanks for your reply and suggestions. However my question was more a, can I expect a fix for this at some point (as it’s been over a year someone reported on this)? Is there an ETA or Github ticket?

Yes I can look for a different share plugin, I can even build my own solution for this. But since both plugins are targeted towards Genesis users, looking for a third party solution isn’t something that should be encouraged, right? (Especially for PRO users where I am sure this occurs as well, but thats probably not for here).

Is there a Github rep for this by any chance? Thanks!

@bianca205 Unfortunately the GitHub repo is private at this time. We have mid-term plans to phase out Genesis Simple Share, so it’s difficult to prioritise tickets relating to it.

Just to clarify. The issue isn’t resolved from OP point of view. The message you are sending is. We are not planning on resolving this. So it’s your problem now; Resolved. I can say a lot right now, but only will say this does not look good on your brand, StudioPress.

@bianca205 I’m really sorry about how this has played out. You’re right to say that it doesn’t look good –?it doesn’t.

Unfortunately, we have limited resources, and juggling priorities is hard. This particular bug is known to us, but right now not a very high priority.

Often times when I’m interacting with support services from other businesses, I get canned responses to this sort of issue. They’ll say something like “Thanks for letting us know! I’ll add it to our backlog and we’ll get to it soon”. More often than not, they don’t.

I hate it when people do that to me, so I won’t do the same to you.

Just to explain why I’ve marked as resolved, although this is a unresolved problem, it’s not a problem with Genesis Blocks. Rather, it’s something that needs to be fixed on the Genesis Simple Share side of things.

Can I make a suggestion? If the plan is to phase out the Simple Share Plugin, maybe make it possible, or write some DIY docs on how, to implement the share block site wide (by a hook function or so). I don’t want to add the buttons manually every single time.

Another option, if resources are limited is to let people contribute to it (make a public rep maybe). Unfortunately I won’t because Javascript is not my strong suit.

Great suggestions. I’m in favour of making the repos public too. I’ll see if I can make it happen.

Hi all! I have a workaround for the error until it’s resolved. I wrote a blog post on it.

    Thanks Anita,
    This worked like a charm.
