I used the customizr theme for years. Because I love it, I decided to upgrade to pro. My only reason for doing this was the desire to have the grid layout for the post page. I am a word press beginner – serious customization involving core files is not for me. I do not regret my purchase because Customizr Pro is a bad theme – it is not. It is beautiful and I can see the possibilities.

However, not having a forum where newbie like myself can ask simple questions is a big problem. Submitting a ticket is great because I am sure that eventually someone will solve my issues correctly. But if we had an open forum to ask questions, I might have been able to resolve my issue Friday evening with just a little guidance.

There seems to be extra code in some of my posts that I don’t understand but I am too “green” to know where to change things. Press Customizr has great documentation and I give them credit for that. But the lack of a forum has made me regret my purchase.

    Hi @cdanderson1,

We’ve replied to your support request in the support helpdesk. I hope this will help.

We first started to do the support with a forum one year ago, but we quickly realized this was not the good solution for many reasons. Among the most important, the replies are getting deprecated after some theme’s updates, need for privacy, difficult to keep a track history of our client support requests, …

That’s why we moved to an email based support, coupled with an extensive documentation website ( https://docs.presscustomizr.com ).

We try to cover everything in the documentation, but some requests are specific, and are not included in the documentation. But we constantly add new documentation pages or FAQ that our users are reporting to us.

Best regards and thanks for this feedback !

Using Customizr theme for years but you are a beginner ? How many decades before you won’t consider yourself not beginner anymore ?

And why this forum on wordpress is not good enough for you ?

Really want to know why people always ask more and better when THEY are the problem !

Not all of us are coders. Playing with code when you dont know what you are doing can make things worse. I have 1 site with almost no customizations. I am intelligent enough to know I dont know everything.

This forum is great but when searching through the threads I repeatedly see comments that this is not a customizr pro forum. I was trying to be respectful and not ask pro questions. However, not complaining but “explaining” why I found the free theme easier to find answers for.

I will tell you why we ask for more. Because we are on different paths to learning. Sometimes we know we are the problem. And we realize that people like @nikeo appreciate honest feedback.

What is not helpful – is know it alls who try to make those of us trying to learn feel stupid. And that is why so many are hesitant to ask questions and learn.

Thanks Nicolaus, I appreciate YOUR helpful reply. I understand the thought regarding replacing the forum with email. And, maybe now I understand even better. !

Yes ! Keep learning ! And next time you can be better ??

@markeonlineshop, the topic opened by @cdanderson1 is totally relevant and useful for me.

Moving to an email support desk is a not a perfect solution. I know that some users ( like @cdanderson1, and others who have reported similar concerns ) are enjoying a forum with “real” problems reported and fixed, like on stack overflow (which, as a developer, I’m visiting almost everyday).

It’s all about making compromises : providing good support with a track history, along with an extensive knowledge base.
In the future, I would love to implement an hybrid solution coupling both an email desk + a documentation center, and a developer forum.
