NOT great
-
I really wanted to like this plugin but, the bottom line is: it’s not great. Conflicts with WP Bakery which is pretty much a standard, has issues with WooCommerce, and does not authorize with Google Search Console — which should probably be one of the most important aspects of the plugin!
UPDATE: Their latest version allowed me to finally connect with Google Search Console, but I still have not been able to get SEO recommendations working even though the plugin is registered, and despite what their tech support folks insist, it DOES NOT work well with WP Bakery or Music Player for WordPres, at least not for me. What’s more frustrating is it does work on my staging site… it does not on my production site — and everything is EXACTLY the same. The ability to select an OG image is also crippled due to another (essential theme-related) plugin conflict.
While someone named “Bhanu” has been helpful, dealing with tech support on their website forum is frustrating. It seems that about 80% of the time an issue is a conflict with another plugin. I get it… an SEO plugin has its tentacles in a lot of areas, so there is a greater chance of conflicts, but this is ridiculous. It’s like every way I turn there is a conflict, or something is crippled.
I also take issue with the tone of their online tech support. It seems that almost every interaction begins with a canned platitude, like “Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.” It’s insincere, and unnecessary. Are you really “sorry” for something? Maybe just solve the problem without constantly resorting to “there is probably a conflict with another plugin… here are some troubleshooting steps”!
Bottom line: I just don’t understand why this plugin is getting such attention when it is FAR TOO YOUNG. It just hasn’t had anywhere near the evolutionary time to become something as stable as Yoast, for example. For someone who values “freemium” features over stability and compatibility, this is a fine plugin… but if you don’t want to be constantly looking over your shoulder for some broken functionality, and you’re not interested in dealing with a tech support staff that deflects and spins when it should be working on the source of probably 99% of user issues — compatibility — then you should look elsewhere.
