    March 2024

This is my third review update here. I’m using the free version, no paid plugins or support. Kadence theme.

I hope this long review will help both users and the guys from Directorist staff.

I evaluated Directorist in 2022 and i was thrilled. I liked it a lot and still do. But when i started to use it on a staging site, due to many bugs and no time, i abandoned the project and used something else. Little or no help was provided.

In early 2024 i tried again, many bugs still existed (along with new ones introduced) but i felt brave and used it in a project. Only time will tell if i was right or wrong.

Directorist interface for both admin and users is very good, even with popular themes, like Kadence or Neve. You will have to modify a few css, still it works 99% right.

I have done a LOT of import (csv) amd moving around and i’m glad database functions work well, no errors, no issues. Because if you have database issues, you are totally lost.

I have no fatal errors or crashes, just a few deprecated warnings with PHP 8.1. (unfixed)

I had to drop the Multi Directory option because it is a MESS. (unfixed)

Directorist is not really multi-language capable. You can translate it at 95% to ONE language. A lot of strings are not in pot files but here and there.

The documentation online is different from the plugin, many options and feature do not exist in the plugin (some widgets for example). Not a big deal.

Directorist has a LOT of small bugs here and there, that (for some reason unknown) are not fixed. Some issues opened by me at Github a year+ ago, were totally ignored. If you closely look at their Github repo, you will realize that they seem to have an agenda on what to do, mostly adding new features. Bugs are neglected or downplayed for some reason.

Other issues here were answered as “site specific” but they are not. I pointed the issues with Videos and other sites experiencing the same issues. All ignored.

Some issues i had with the Importer, i got some help here from their support, and thank you for that.

With some 5000+ listings, and a mid-range hosting plan, i see no speed issues. Using Redis.

The online support at their site, is non-existing. No real answers or solutions.

all-in-all: Test this plugin before using it. If you have no experience with WordPress, do not use it.

Personally i was able to either solve some issues myself or just not using the features with bugs. You can replace some missing or not working functionallity with some other WordPress plugins, if you know your way around all this. Directorist seems to play well with other plugins, for example Images Watermark, mail queueing etc …

This plugin has GREAT potential but the company behind it, doesn’t seem to care much. They are extremely kind in their replies but as a result …. no EGG as we say in my country.

  • Hi @dimalifragis,

First my sincere apology for not being able to fulfill your expectation and for the inconveniences that you may have faced.

Directorist is a flexible plugin and while it isn’t specifically made for Classified Ads Listings, it can be used to do so. It may lack some features in this section but most of the Classifieds functionalities can be achieved using Directorist. On top of that, we are constantly listening to our customers’ feedback and try to focus our development based on that.

Directorist is fully compatible with popular themes like Astra, Kadence, and Twenty-Twenty. I’m really sorry if you have had issues with any of them but contacting our technical support would be a way to get to the bottom of it. Please contact us through our site https://directorist.com/contact.

Once again, I’m really sorry if you felt that our product description is misleading. Your feedback matters to us and we’ll try to do better, be better.

    Regards,
    Mahdi.

@m4hd1bd Directorist needs Onelisting theme. Otherwise visually most things are broken, like the slide at the top. Sorry but again you give inaccurate information.

Your plugin is promising but not ready yet.

    Hi @dimalifragis,

It’s actually the other way around. OneListing needs Directorist, as it is based on it, like all of our themes.
When you say ‘slide at the top’, do you mean the Listing Slider section on the Single Listing Header? If yes, could you please tell me with which theme you’ve experienced that issue and what exactly you mean by broken? We would love to get to the bottom of that issue, whatever is causing this, we’ll address it.

    Regards,
    Mahdi.
