• I don’t understand why so many people think this plugin is so great. Free version doesn’t do much. Prepare to forfeit your personal privacy. Basically a waste of time and effort. You’re better off learning to be an SEO master and doing everything manually — which I have no desire to do. This plugin does little to free you from SEO slavery. Deactivated. Deleted.

  • Hi @jhunter0203,

    Thanks for your review.

We are sorry to hear you’re not satisfied with Yoast SEO.

First of all, we’d like to point out that the main features of the plugin are available in both the free and premium versions of Yoast SEO: XML sitemaps, content and readability analysis, Google preview, social media optimization, canonical URLs, breadcrumbs, schema markup, etc.

As you can see, the free version of the plugin comes with lots of features that will help you improve your SEO. However, like any other SEO plugin, Yoast SEO is just a tool and there’re aspects that the plugin can’t do automatically for you. For example, the plugin requires users to do some work themselves, for example, entering focus keyphrases, optimizing SEO titles and meta descriptions as well as the content itself, etc. This work is not done automatically by the plugin and must be done by the users themselves.

SEO typically takes lots of time and effort and the simple fact of installing an SEO plugin can’t have immediate and magic results. We understand that learning SEO can sound intimidating. That’s why over the recent years, and with the aim of helping users gain a basic knowledge of SEO, we’ve written a lot of SEO articles and guides and produced quite a few training courses you can find on our blog and the Yoast Academy.

As for your concern about your personal privacy, please note that our plugin itself stores no personal data, only website data, as you can read in our GDPR article.
