Can’t use it in the EU because it doesn’t support opt-in. Opt-out is not sufficient.

  • Hi @studiomondiale,

We’re always looking for suggestions on how our products can be improved. Thank you for taking a moment to share your experience with us.

To help me accurately pass this feedback to our development team, could you tell me more about how you’d like the integration to be GDPR compliant?

Typically, opt-in and opt-out are offered by extensions such as Complianz – GDPR/CCPA Cookie Consent and I see it’s compatible with Google Analytics. Are you looking for Google Analytics to offer this directly?

    Hello,

    Thanks for your reply.

We are currently using a solution that makes integrating the Google Analytics code GDPR compliant (user has to opt in, cookies are set after the user has opted in). However, when I install WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration, the plugin sets the cookies itself, ignoring our other solution and the necessary opt-in.

Thus, my recommendation: Add an option that will make the plugin check if the Google Analytics cookies are already set (by another plugin or by just integrating the code manually). If they are set, use them. If they are not set, do nothing. This would make it much more interoperable with existing solutions.

    Hi @studiomondiale,

Thanks for the context. I’ll pass on your feedback to our development team.

As a side note, so long as no personal customer data is used in your site analytics (data is anonymized), this data is?not subject to the GPDR, so you should ensure that your Google Analytics account is configured accordingly. There’s a good overview of?GDPR compliance with Google Analytics here.

    Good day,

    Thanks for your reply.

I’m afraid that information is outdated and incorrect. Today, it is more or less consensus among German lawyers that even the anonymized tracking requires opt-in in Germany / the EU.
