    Folks:

I tried to do a backup on updraft plus this morning and all it did was load some files and repeatedly backed up the first data file.

I didn’t try to download again because I only have two backups so I didn’t want to lose a file that was complete and full.

It did this a couple of weeks ago and updraft sent out an update and it cleared up immediately.

Perhaps it’s time to send out an update with a similar correction?

Love the plugin. Would like to get it running again to its usual high standards.

    cheers

@kengray20 Please can you post a link to the log file for the problematic backup? e.g. Use pastebin.com.

    thank you for the update

    unfortunately it still doesn’t work

it tries to load file 1 a few times and then gives up, says it is backed up but I doubt it is

it might just contain file 1

anything you can do to help?

    cheers

@kengray20 For some reason the forum front page says that you updated this 5 minutes ago…. but there’s nothing here. That can happen if you post something that the www.remarpro.com forum moderators delete. Perhaps you tried to post your entire log file here? They don’t like that; use something like pastebin.com instead.

    Hi Ken,

Please do post your log file. Get it from your ‘Existing Backups’ section, using the ‘View Log’ button; you can then download it to your computer and post it at pastebin.com – then post the link here.

    David:

I think I’ve figured out what is happening.

That said, I could be wrong.

One of the measures I use to see if The Bulldog is running well is how fast Updraft loads a backup. It’s pretty accurate.

So I have spent a fair amount of time in my life (time, I might add I’ll never get back) watching the blue bar start on the left and get bigger until it prunes previous copies.

What I saw was the plugin constantly loading File 1 of 1. And it still does that.

Normally is would file 1,2,3,4 and 5.

This led me to believe that it kept resending File 1. However I checked my Dropbox and found the usual backups there.

Might be handy if you return to filing them from one to five so that others don’t think they’re just reloading the same file.

Thank you for your help and sorry for the delay getting back.

Still a great plugin. I’d be lost without it.

    cheers

    Hi Ken,

With the recent improvement in UpdraftPlus which uploads each archive immediately after being created, the upload counter now is referring to “in this batch of archives”. But we realised that’s not very helpful. Our team have been producing a change to instead revert it to its prior meaning of “out of all the archives so far created” (which, prior to the improvement, used to mean the same as “out of all the archives that will ever exist”).

Summary: sorry for the confusion; it’ll be back to what you expected in the near future!

    Thank you, David.

I am glad you can understand the confusion and you are dealing with it. You are being proactive and it is refreshing to be dealing with someone who has that attitude.

I wanted to update my PHP but I wasn’t sure I had a complete backup or file #1 repeated over and over again.

So I held off on updating the PHP.

Now I can go forward with a backup.

Your plugin is outstanding (save this hiccup) and I can tell why by the method with which you addressed my concern.

Keep Updraft as good as it is.

    Thank you and cheers

    K
