Not Found wp-comments-post.php
-
Hi. My comments have stopped working this morning, bringing readers to a 404 Not Found page when they try to submit a comment. I am able to leave a comment if I’m logged in or even if I’m not logged in and use my name/email/URL. My blog is here:
I have not made any changes to my theme files recently (except to add html for the menu buttons in the header). I received a comment around 4 a.m. today that seems to have worked fine, then a scheduled post went up at 9 a.m. I’m assuming that is when comments stopped working, but this post seemed no different than any other. I have no idea what happened!
My server is hosted at HostGator. I checked, and wp-comments-post.php is there. I haven’t made any changes to permalinks. I’m afraid to change permalinks to default, save, then change back to month/day and save because won’t that break every link on my site? I accidentally made a change to permalinks when I first installed my self-hosted wordpress and crashed the entire server. I’m really wary of ever touching that setting again!
In my search for help, I found mention of the htaccess file possibly getting corrupted and causing this problem. I’m not sure where to find this file or if that applies to me if I’m not using custom permalinks.
Any help is much appreciated. My blog has been going strong lately, and I hate to have readers trying to comment and getting an error message!
Thank you!
Andi
