• The past two times I’ve published a post, something weird has happened. It says it published fine, but when you click on the individual link for the blog post or someone from FB or Twitter click on the link, it says “not found”. The post shows up on the home page, but the individual blog link is not working.

It’s not the permalinks because all other individual post links are fine. It’s just been these last two times.

Also, this all started after I tried to set the date to publish a post and did it incorrectly apparently. Since then, I’ve been having issues. I had to get a techy friend of mine yesterday to go in and completely strip my post and re publish. But, I can’t get her to do that every time. Please help! I am so frustrated.

  • Unless you provide a link to a page demonstrating the problem, no one will be able to offer much in the way of assistance.

Can you replicate the problem using the default theme with all plugins deactivated?

Please explain in more simplistic terms. I am a writer and photographer, not so much a technical whiz. Why did it just start happening?

Switch to the Twenty Twelve theme and deactivate all of your active plugins to see if this helps.

That did the trick, but now can I get back to a more visually appealing theme and reinstall plugins?

First try re-activating your plugins one by one – checking the site for a re-occurrence of the problem after each re-activation. Let us know what happens.

I re-activated them one by one, and the problem never re-occurred. Still in Twenty Twelve theme.

OK – now try activating your previous theme and see if the issue occurs again.

The issue did not occur again. Thank you! Two concluding questions.

    1). Can I reactivate plugins?

2). If this issue occurs again, is this probably the problem? Should I follow these steps again?

    1) I thought you had already re-activated them. If not, can you do so now?

I did, sorry. It seems to be working fine. Thanks so much for your help!

    Esmi,

I got the ‘not found’ message again tonight and went back through all of the steps you suggested earlier. I found that the AtContent plugin is the faulty one for some reason. When it’s activated, the ‘Not Found’ message appears. When it’s not activated, the error message does not appear.

Is there anything I can do about this? They claim to help search engines find my blog, so if they do in fact do that, obviously I would like for the plug in to work.

    Thanks!

You may delete the AtContent plugin and re-upload and activate a fresh copy. Download it from:
