• We have managed a collection of about 3,000 photos for a little over a year with this plug-in and it has been very challenging. The system creates its own proprietary variations that are not visible in WooCommerce and are also not changeable or editable from within WordPress. In our case, this translated into 63K+ product variations. In the last couple of weeks we have only been able to upload three images at a time, not what I would call ‘bulk upload’. The plugin just hangs. No error messages, no timeouts.

When I contacted Spencer he wanted us to order ‘Premium Support’. Desperate, I agreed, only to get a response that they couldn’t find anything wrong except our hosting company. Really? To top it off, Spencer wanted to charge us more for ‘additional’ premium support. Would you?

The good news is that we’ve found another solution [WP Photo Seller] that is far more robust. It took less than 15 minutes to upload and watermark more than 400 images. That’s exactly what we were looking for. The plug-in is also easier to configure and has more options. After trying for more than a year we’ve finally given up.

  • Serge and I have spoken about his concerns prior to him posting this review and I respect and understand his position.

However, we did NOT advise him to order Premium Support and THEN tell him it was his host. We gave him FREE support and informed him the root of the issue was with his host – whom we’ve had numerous clients report issues on.

We explained that BPTPI uses image manipulation software on the web server that requires server resources that exceed what is common for low-end web servers. This is core to the BPTPI functionality and cannot be changed without rebuilding the entire Plugin.

He indicated he didn’t want to migrate hosts and would like us to see if there was any reason that his website would prevent it from operating apart from the host. We explained that we could offer this if he was willing to pay for additional support, and that we couldn’t guarantee anything and may require more time. He acknowledged and made a payment. After 30 minutes we couldn’t say – with certainty – what the issue was but we noticed a few things that were unusual and wanted to investigate more. He declined.

He is, however, correct, that BPTPI uses custom Variations and this is because – at the time BPTPI was developed – WooCommerce did not support the Variations the way that photographers need them to. As of WooCommerce 2.0 that infrastructure is now there and we intend to adopt it in the future.

WP Photo Seller is a great Plugin – one we reviewed heavily during development of BPTPI but it is not integrated with WooCommerce (last we checked).

Serge is a polite person and a faithful customer. I believe his experience was negative and that we earned a 3-4 star review. However, I feel a 1 star review is not accounting for his unwillingness to do as our FAQ and staff advised him to do to operate our software.
