• I’m not trying to step on anybody’s toes here, however, this being a great cookie banner plugin and all, does not make it a POPI Compliant Plugin at all! You should not be advertising this plugin as being a solution for POPIA, because it isn’t.

Do yourselves a favor and read up on the POPI Act!

POPIA requires much more than just adding a cookie banner. There is a whole list of requirements that this plugin does not satisfy!

    Hi @veronicaibarra,

    Greetings from CookieYes!

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch. Websites utilise our cookie consent solution worldwide to comply with privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, and CNIL.

We added POPIA to our plugin after ensuring that all of its functions contribute sufficiently to comply with the legislation. As cookies are considered online identifiers in POPIA, they fall under the scope of personal information. This means your website needs to have an adequate cookie consent mechanism in place.

With a few minor terminological changes, POPIA incorporates GDPR’s ideas. Consent must be granted voluntarily, as with GDPR consent standards. Additionally, consent must be informed, and data subjects must be given enough information to make an informed decision.

    With CookieYes, you can:

    • Obtain opt-in consent from your site visitors
    • Auto-block third-party cookies prior to getting user consent
    • Record user’s consent to demonstrate proof of compliance
    • Let users easily withdraw or change their consent
    • Generate legal documents (privacy policy/cookie policy) for your website

You can always contact our support team if you have any custom requirements.
