When uploading a new image to a gallery, no thumbnails are generated. Also, when trying to edit the image description of the new image it doesn’t save it.

Also, I have deactivated all plugins and no difference. Also changed the theme to 2021 and still no difference.

    Hi,

First make sure your server fulfills our minimum requirements https://www.imagely.com/docs/requirements/

Then go to other options > miscellaneous and then click Clear Image Cache

    Please keep me posted.

Everything is good with the server and I’ve cleared the image cache. Still a problem.
I imported the gallerys from the original site. Could that have made a difference?

    Hi @oceancolleen,

Can you please let us know how you’ve managed to import the galleries from the original site? Importing galleries is a complex thing and it isn’t possible to be properly done without actually copying all of the folders and the databases’ tables to the new site.

Please note that the below mentioned will basically overwrite the content from your new site basically creating a replica of your original site.

    Here’s the Basic Migration Outline:

    On origin site:

    • create a full verified backup of the site (all files and the entire database)
    • clear transients
    • copy all database tables
    • copy gallery folders and contents

On destination site (WordPress default installation):

    • ensure NextGEN Gallery plugin(s) are installed (and activated)
    • paste gallery folders and contents
    • paste (overwrite) all database tables
    • clear transients
    • optional, use Reset Option under Gallery > Other Options`

Yes, I copied the folders and overwrote the database tables.
Not sure about clear transients, how do I do that?
If I use the Reset Option will I loose any data?

I just cleared the transients with a plugin. Still no thumbnails.

    Hi @oceancolleen,

It would probably worth checking the permissions that needs to be set 755for the gallery folder and its subfolders and 644for the files.

Also, I’d check “wp-content/gallery/{yourgallery}/thumbnails” folders of the galleries to see if the thumbnails are in place and if the path corresponds with the frontend’s path.

    Hope this helps

    Hi,
no, that didn’t help. The permissions were set as you described.

I also checked the some dates and it looks like thumbnails are showing for images uploaded since the import, so it could have nothing to do with the import.

When uploading images, the large images themselves are going to the proper folders and showing, just the thumbnails aren’t being generated.
