  • Hi zomblogger, are there any other plugins running on your site? What exactly does it break on the dashboard?

I have not heard this issue before and cannot reproduce it.

    RavanH,

    Installed Plugins:

    AddToAnyShareButtons
    Akismet
    Backup
    Google AdSense
    Google Tag Manager for WordPress
    Social Media Auto Publish

    Installed Theme: Zombie Apocalypse

When I activate XML Sitemap & Google News feeds 4.7.1 after updating to WordPress 4.5.2,

I receive an “Internal Server Error 500” when trying to access the Dashboard:
    https://zomblogger.com/wordpress/wp-admin/index.php

The actual website, https://zomblogger.com, continues to function but because I can’t access the Dashboard, I have no administrative functionality and cannot create or edit content.

I have been using XML Sitemap & Google News feeds on previous WordPress versions for several months with no problems. This error occurred only after updating to WordPress 4.5.2.

    Thank You,
    Jim

    RavanH,

I forgot to mention that while I still have XML Sitemap & Google News feeds 4.7.1 installed, I have deactivated it due to the issues I had. Probably obvious, but I thought I should mention it.

    Thanks,
    Jim

Hi Jim thanks for the additional info! I’ll try to reproduce, installing these plugins and theme.

Do you have access to server error logs by any chance? An error 500 can mean anything but the logs might reveal where it came from…

Hi again, still have not been able to reproduce the issue.

Which plugin is “Backup” exactly? There are many of them but none seems to be called simply “Backup”. And the “Google Tag Manager for WordPress”? There are several with similar names…

If you can provide links to their www.remarpro.com plugin pages I’ll be sure to install the same ones as you have.

    Hi Ravan

could you please check this error?

    https://www.linkinghouse.com/sitemap.xml

XML Parsing Error: XML or text declaration not at start of entity
    Location: https://www.linkinghouse.com/sitemap.xml
    Line Number 2, Column 1:<?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″?>
    ^

    Thank you in advance!
    Peter

There is probably a blank line or other stuff (can be a simple space) at the top of your theme’s functions.php (or wp-config.php) before the opening ‘<?php‘ causing a blank line to appear at the top of all responses that WordPress creates… You’ll need to find and remove it.

    Hi Ravan,

I don’t see such errors. Anyway, Google webmaster tools accepted the file, so it is ok.

    Peter
