It seems that the Social Pug plugin is not compatible with the Generate Press theme that I use. Social Pug requires a theme that uses the WordPress default “the_content” function to display the content of posts. That may be the problem, I’m not sure, but with GeneratePress the social buttons never display.

However, GeneratePress has an alternative way to get the same functionality of the floating share buttons:

    Hey Clay,

Thank you for detailing these issues. If you are referring to the floating share buttons, then the plugin requires the theme to fire the “wp_footer” function.

I will test the plugin in the following days with the free version of Generate Press and see what might be the issue and come back with details.

    Best regards,
    Mihai

    Hi Mihai,

It is working for me now with the Generate Press theme! I’m not sure what happened, but the ‘Configure Sidebar Sharing Buttons’ settings page looks different now. I think the settings were not getting saved because I was seeing the sketched arrow every time I went to that page, but now it is gone.

    Thanks, Clay
