not compatible with login by email plugins

I am trying to combine with rename login plugin with the ability to login using an email address but the rename plugin does not seem to work with the email login plugins. When rename login is enabled, the others are essentially ignored.
Any chance anyone has figured out how to make them work together or has anyone modified this plugin to do login by email?
