Not clear how to download full backup

  • Hey

    I wanted to take a full backup and download it to my computer.
    It says click to download: Database, Plugins, Themes, Uploads etc…

    How do I download the full backup? Not in pieces but the full thing.

    There is a Select all but I find it unclear how that actually works….

    Hi Paal,

    The backups are actually stored in their component parts which form a backup set.
    This means they do need to be downloaded individually when using the interface.
    You can download files at the same time but you must initiate each file download.
    The Select option only relates to deletion of files, it does not relate to downloads.

    That is fairly confusing. One thing is having the various individual components. Another is to pack these into one bundle. As it would be nice to be able to download one bundle containing all the various components. What if I want to clone the site and move the files to another server and setup the site there?

    Hi Paal,

    Though it may appear a little less convenient in reality it doesn’t make much difference.
    If you want to clone a site there is a method which means you don’t need to download.

    You can simply connect two sites to the same remote storage and backup then restore.
