As of around noon this afternoon (10/13/21) WooCommerce Shipping & Tax is no longer calculating shipping rates.

I am getting the following error in the WooCommerce Shipping & Tax logs:

    10-14-2021 @ 01:19:01 - Error: Unexpected USPS Response: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Error><Number>80040B1A</Number><Description>Authorization failure. You are not authorized to connect to this server.</Description><Source>USPSCOM::DoAuth</Source></Error> (calculate_shipping)

  • Same problem here. I suspect USPS api is down.

USPS API appears to be working properly, I’ve tried another plugin (as well as ShipStation) and they’re both pulling rates from the USPS API with no problem.

Same problem here for about the past 24 hours. I’ve probably lost $2k in sales today because of this and have both Woo and ShipStation working on it, but it appears to be the same USPS auth problem with the Woo Shipping & Tax plugin. I can’t find anywhere to update or enter an API key, so it must be something handled by the plugin directly? Yet hours later, Woo can’t seem to fix this.

Got it working, had to create an account at USPS, here’s where you can create that: https://www.usps.com/business/web-tools-apis/
Filled out the UPSP registration form and got an email back with a Username that I took and plugged into the WooCommerce> Shipping> USPS. Apparently the default wooCommce username is not working.

Where did you enter a username?

I don’t see any fields to enter a username. Is it possible you have another shipping plugin installed?

Under WooCommerce Setting, click the Shipping Tab, then you have 4 sub-tabs:
    Shipping zones |Shipping options |Shipping classes |USPS |WooCommerce Shipping

Click on USPS and there should be a field for USPS User ID and a checkbox to turn on debug mode. The User ID you get from registering with the USPS link above goes into this field replacing the default Woocommerce ID.

    I don’t have a USPS sub-tab. What I have is:

Shipping zones | Shipping options | Shipping classes | ShipStation Shipping | WooCommerce Shipping

I’m wondering if the USPS sub-tab is being provided by some other third party plugin? (Similar to my ShipStation Shipping option)

Could be, we use the USPS Shipping method. Perhaps somewhere in your settings is a User ID to access the USPS API. My Woocommerce installation had a default ID that worked for over a year with the USPS service until yesterday.

looks like it may be fixed now
