Hello, I have the following problem in one of my sites which does not happen in some other sites I have. All sites are on WordPress 5.4 and WooCommerce 4.0.1.

Although all the variations work fine on the product page some variations are not added / shown to the cart.

    Just an example:

Product A has the following two attributes
    Colour = Silver | Black
    Size = Large | Small

If I create the following two variations:

Colour Silver & Any Size €100
Colour Black & Any Size €120

Then the product page works fine. It shows the dropdown fields and allows to select the variations and shows the correct total. But after adding to cart the cart shows:

    Product A
    Colour: Silver

Where I was expecting to show:

    Product A
    Colour: Silver
    Size: Small

So in all my products where I use the “Any Variation” I have the same problem.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hi there,

The display of your variations in the Cart would depend a large part on your site’s active theme. It also appears to be affected by how “Any” variations are handled.

Doing some testing on my personal site with the latest versions of WooCommerce and the default Storefront theme, I saw the following…

With distinct variations (not using “Any x”), set up like this:

    distinct variation settings

The cart displayed the selections as part of the product title:

    distinct variation cart
    Link to image: https://d.pr/i/YniuJq

However, when using the “Any X” option like this:

    size any settings
    Link to image: https://d.pr/i/Gmiolr

Then it displayed the selection for the “Any” attributes as below:

    size any cart

It’s possible this may be further affected by whether the attribute is a Global product attribute, or a custom attributes created on the product.

I would recommend temporarily switching back to the Storefront theme to test and check whether that affects the display of these products in the Cart.

If you are still having issues, then you could consider trying the “Create variations from all attributes” action to create distinct actual variations (instead of using the “Any”) and then deleting any you don’t want available:

    create variations

    I hope that helps!

Hi there and thanks for all the help!

I have tried your suggestion and indeed with the Storefront theme it works as it was supposed to as shown below:

    Using Storefront

Switching back to the OceanWP theme I got the problem back:

    Problem when using OceanWP theme

The variation “Size” which is set to “Any” is not displayed.

It seems I shall contact OceanWP for help then.

For the time being I created the variations for all items as a workaround. But this is too much time consuming if 3 or more attributes are needed.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi there @marinoss,

Thank you for doing that testing and getting back to us here with the results!

Yes, in that case it sounds like the issue is coming from OceanWP — hopefully their team will be able to sort that out for you soon.

For the time being I created the variations for all items as a workaround. But this is too much time consuming if 3 or more attributes are needed.

Yes, I certainly understand it can be quite time consuming to create a bunch of individual variations when you have several attributes. To make the workaround a bit faster to set up, perhaps you could try using the “Create variations from all attributes” option and other bulk options for setting them all up at once, and then deleting any that should not be available.

For now, I’m going to mark this thread as resolved. If you have any further questions, please start a new thread.

    Have a wonderful day!
