I have a job defined to backup some of the sub-folders in the “uploads folder”. On the Files tab when editing the job, under a sub-heading labelled “Exclude:”, all the folders are listed. I have checked all the ones I do NOT want to be included in the backup (I have a screenshot of the setup, but can’t see a way to include it).

The job runs and sends the Tar file to my DropBox. However, only one of the many folders have been included (and one that I don’t really care about).

This is repeatable.

I have the job setup as per the attached screenshots and run it manually and it copies it to a DropBox. The only folder backed-up is the one circled in purple (1606), and it isn’t one I’m interested in anyway (just has an empty sub-folder).

hmm could you check the BackWPUp log ( BackWPUp -> Logs )and see if there are any errors there?
Also, did you tried to download the Tar file in Dropbox and extract it just to make sure all needed files in there?

Absolutely no errors are noted in the log file. By downloading and extracting the Tar file is how I know the folders are not there.

which software did you try to extract the archive? Do you use Windows and 7zip to extract the Tar file?

Correct – I used Windows and 7-Zip (I have found WinZip usually cannot open these files)

you can try with the official Tar for Windows here: https://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/gtar.htm
Or try with WinRar instead.

Oh dear – I have been wasting your time. Many apologies.

The backups are complete – it’s just that 7-Zip didn’t display all the folders nor give any warning or error message that it couldn’t decode the whole TAR.

WinRar confirms all the files appear to be there.
