Hi, I have a plug-in that only some of the menu items show up for other users when capability is added. Please see this screenshot:

I understand there is a possibility to add “new” capabilities that are not currently listed in the Capability Manager, how do I know what is the name of the capability to add manually so that a particular page will become visible?

    Hi @admin_user

    Thanks for using PublishPress Capabilities

The most reliable way to determine this is by consulting the plugin developer to identify the specific capability required for accessing that particular menu.

Alternatively, you can adopt a trial-and-error approach by testing each capability one by one.

One easy way to test this is by duplicating the Administrator role and gradually revoking each capability one by one. This process will help identify which specific capabilities are responsible for the issue.

Thank you Riza for your reply.

I have informed the developer and unclear if they will adopt this on next releases or not.

Regarding duplicating admin role, the issue is no capability from this plug-in appears and by default what I showed in the screen shot shows up for all users that are not admin. How can I find list of capability names to manually add them? I’m happy to dig through plug-in files if I know what I’m looking for.

@admin_user Are you a user attempting to add a menu from a specific plugin, or are you a plugin developer seeking to include capabilities listed in PublishPress Capabilities?

I’m a user trying to add access to a plug-in for our customer service team (user role).

Some of the plug-in pages appear and some don’t. This is without any capability showing up in the list of PublishPress Capability.

I see there is ability to manually add a capability in the PublishPress capability, but unclear what name I am supposed to enter here.

I have reached out to developer of the plug-in, unless they are getting this request from many users, I don’t see how they would be motivated to do this so I need to figure out how to add it into the plug-in or add the name of the role, etc.

What plugin you are using and what menu you are trying to add? We will try to check it from our end as well.

I’m trying to get “Reviews” under “Reviews” to appear. This page basically shows all the reviews that were left by customers and pending approval.

@admin_user Does your user has “edit_posts” capability?

    (@admin_user)

It was not enabled (reading / editing posts) for this role. I enabled it and now “Posts” appears in their admin but I’m still missing options under “Reviews” mainly “Reviews -> Reviews” which is where it shows the customer reviews left

@admin_user Based on our testing, it needs “moderate_comments” capability in order to access that page.

Let me know if you still have any difficulties.

That worked! Thank you very much for your help!
