• Create a Page, try to insert a photo, I get this:

    Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /public_html/wp-admin/page.php could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I installed using Fantastico… I am lame at website management, and am baffled by this. What does that even mean in the above error? Is there a relatively easy fix like “Download WordPress to your computer and only upload THIS file from the install folder”?

My website support fixed the issues. Fantatico created duplicates of every folder on the server which was causing most of my issues. WebKrib also took the liberty of reinstalling WordPress. However… I have no admin screen to login to…. Fantastico did it for me before, just asking for some basics like my webserver credentials and then what I wanted for a login name / password… How do I do this manually?

When you install WordPress, it asks you for your email address and then both diaplys and mails your automatically generated password. If your hosting provider did not send that info to you after installing, you’ll have to reset it:

Macman – all redone, and the problem is back!

    NOT ACCEPTABLE!

I have read about a dozen websites that say this is caused by a software firewall, and suggest editing the .htaccess file, which I don’t want to do because it lets your defenses down.

I am not sure what to do here….

What do they suggest adding to your .htaccess file?

There is a very good chance your host has installed a add-on for apache called mod_security.

ModSecurityTM is an open source intrusion detection and prevention engine for web applications (or a web application firewall). Operating as an Apache Web server module or standalone, the purpose of ModSecurity is to increase web application security, protecting web applications from known and unknown attacks.

While mod_security can be a very powerful tool, misconfigured or overly strict rule sets can interfere with Operation. Below for Apache users you can use an htaccess file and add a specific rule to disable mod_security.

That sounds like it could be a possibility. A better plan of action would be to contact your hosting provider about the issue. If they can identify that mod_security is causing the problem, they can whitelist your domain.

renaming the theme name in style.css could cause this error
