    Hello there,

I have recently tried for the first time to restore a backup and I noticed that this doesn’t work. i get a “remote fetch” error message (no local copy present).

Actually, I hve followed this article in order to tey to resolve the issue: https://updraftplus.com/troubleshooting-updraftcentral-connection-issues/

Unfortunately, nothing works… So I contacted my hosting provider in order to look deeper into it, they couldn’t make it work.

Here’s what they told me: “We reviewed the logs on the server and tried a few combinations to fix the Updraft error, unfortunately, none of our attempts works. It is best if you refer this to the plugin developer to check further. You can inform them that the firewall has been disabled for this site on the server. We also toggled the remote locations between FTP and S3-Compatible but none worked.”

Please, help me here, since I can’t find how to make this work.

Thank you and have a great one!

    Hi @gmongrut ,

To help us work out the cause of your problem, can you please send us a copy of the backup log?
This log can be found in the Existing Backups tab of the UpdraftPlus dashboard.
If you cannot access the UpdraftPlus dashboard, then you can find the log file in the ‘wp-content/updraft’ directory via FTP or your hosts’ file manager.

    Best Wishes,
    Bryle

    Hello there,

Here’s the log file as requested. Find it HERE.

I have also tried to use different backups and none can be restored.

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi,

Sorry but the log is linked to your website and requires login access.

Please download the content and copy it to https://pastebin.com/. Create a public link and share it here.

    Thanks,

    Hello there,

Sorry about that! For some reason, the file was somehow deleted in the server… it wasn’t because you required access.

Anyhow, find a new file HERE.

    Thank you again!

    Apologies for the delay,

It looks like the plugin can’t find some of your backups on your FTP.

Can you log into your FTP and check the backups are actually there?

Can you take a screenshot of your FTP settings?

    Hello there,

We’re actually using an S3 storage. They seem to be there. At the same time, on the advanced settings, we have split archives every 25MB. So it’s a little difficult to tell if everything is there, since we have a ton of files there.

With that said, here’s the screenshot as requested. You can see it HERE.

    Thank you for everything!

    Apologies for the delay.

Presumably when you test the s3 connection you get a success message?

Can you try running a backup now (just of one thing like your plugins). Then try and restore it, do you still get the same issue?

Can you open the JS console whilst UpdraftPlus is trying to download the file and take a screenshot of what you see?

    Hi there!

I appreciate very much your reply!

Actually, when I test the s3 connection, I do get a success message. Positive there!

Then, when I try to restore only the plugins, I still get the same message:
“Remote fetch failed. No local copy present.”

Finally, here’s the screenshot as requested. see it HERE.

Please let me know if you require anything else!

Once again, I’m thankful for your support.

Can you take a fresh backup and see if you can can restore this (you don’t need to actually restore, it’s just to see if the plugin can retrieve the files.

Apologies if you have already done this, I wasn’t sure if the plugin backup you are attempting to retrieve was a new or existing one?

    Hi there!

I’m always using the same s3 storage (iDrive e2) and I haven’t changed recently.

So, I have new backups everyday and the same happens when I create a fresh new backup on the spot. Mainly, this issue persists on whatever backup I use.

Again, I appreciate all you help! Hope that it will eventually finish by working properly!

If the issue is on new backups, then there is likely something that’s not allowing the download. When users have had this issue in the past the host has always been able to resolve this.

Can you check with your hosts to see if something is blocking he downloading of files on your site?

    Hello,

Finally, I think that there was a problem with the configuration somewhere. It’s now working.
