Not able to get the guest author on post.

  • I have added the guest author and assigned it to the post.
    On the post page, not able to get the guest author with function get_the_author_meta(‘ID’);

    it shows last author name and description which is normal user.

  • Having the same issue. Is now defaulting the post author to the user account it was created from, instead of giving credit to the Guest Author selected.

    Unknown when it started, but am on WP 5.2 and believe it was working on WP 5.0.

    Same here. While the loop functions for outputting the author’s name as a link work as expected, get_the_author or get_author_meta(‘ID’) are NOT returning information about the guest author.

    UPDATE: While I never saw it in the documentation, I found reference to get_the_coauthor_meta(‘ID’) in the github release notes, and using that is allowing me to get info on the guest author as expected

    I’ve yet to try this to see if it fixes the situation, but I came across this on the plug-in’s page here and it seems to directly address the issue. Uncertain why it was not a problem for our site until a few months ago, but hoping this fixes it.
