• I was running my website on Xampp Server on Windows 10 and was trying to Install the Plugin UpdraftPlus for Backup but it does not get installed?
I have done Manual Backup(The Sql file and WordPress folder) also to be safe which works fine on my Xampp but iam not sure if it would work when i will finally upload the Website online.

  • I could be wrong, but I would guess UpdraftPlus needs to be at a live site online rather than local in order for everything to work. A local database backup along with wp-config.php and your /wp-content/ folder is all you really need since everything else can be obtained from a fresh download of WordPress, but your database will need some edits in order for things to work in a different (live) location.

    Hi,
i have used UpdraftPlus before in my Insttitute while learning and running WordPresss project on Xampp and it worked just like it does on a live site. When i try to install it or update WordPress to a new version at home then this is the error i get-
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in D:\xampp\htdocs\Test\wp-admin\includes\class-wp-filesystem-direct.php on line 81

But as you said that the other backup is what I need so i wil use it and hope nothing is wrong with my server settings.

If you are on your home system, you don’t need a backup plugin!

First, open Windows Explorer and go to your WordPress directory. Right-click the /wp-content directory, go to the “Send To” option, and select the “Compressed/zipped folder” option. After the .zip file is created, drag the wp-config.php file to the .zip file, and a copy will be added to the archive. Then move the .zip file to a safe place and rename it to something you’ll remember.

You can then use phpMyAdmin through Xampp to create a backup of your database. Move the DB backup file to a safe place as well.
