not a valid JSON response

  • Hello,

    I have just started using the facebook instant article plugin for wordpress. There seems to be a constant issue of post publishing / updating a post. Everytime we post/update a post, it throws an error that reads ‘Updating failed. https://ibb.co/RpD0g7B The response is not a valid JSON response’. and then we have to leave the page.

    Can someone please guide how to resolve this issue.

    Also the plugin is not updated for more than a year now. Have the developers including facebook abandoned the plugin??!!

  • Yesssss, I was having the same issues and needed to filter/deactivate most of my plugins in order to find out which plugin caused this.

    Apparently it’s this plugin. So I log in and follow up on this. In this month only 1 out of 3 forum problems are answered, and I doubt with 3 major releases from wordpress this plugin hasn’t been updated, it would not be anytime soon.

    It’s best to drop this plugin completely, Facebook has always changed their ways once in a while and that article must be old news.

    My error is “Updating failed. Unexpected token < in JSON at position 0”, and I CANNOT update or publish any post as well.

    Just found this little gem. Also been experiencing the same issue with our local and staging sites.

    Seems to be an issue with invalidating the post cache using the FB Graph API debugger.

    When it fails it returns a literal error string, which breaks the block editor.

    Unfortunately this plugin does not work well with the block editor and hasn’t been updated to support it.

    I patched it to get it working by commenting out the error from echoing.
