Normal sticky post

I am wanting to create a normal sticky post (always on the top) however when I go to quick edit from the posts page in the dashboard and check the box to make the post sticky it seems to be adding the post to the featured section which is not what I want. I just want it to look the same as the normal blog layout, but have the post always remain on the top. Does anyone know of another good way of doing that?
