Hi. I brand new to the world of caching and tried your Plugin. It’s really speeded up my website – thanks for that! ??

I have some booby questions to help me understand better how it all works, so perhaps someone here can help me out?

    – My Blog site has a large number of posts – over 3000. Is it possible to calculate/estimate how long it takes to cache the whole site?
    – Does the Plugin attempt to cache the site as one single job, or does it cache for a while then stop, then start again?
    – If I SFTP the site and check the cache folder, I can see that the folder hierarchy is mostly organised by year/month. When I look more closely, I can see that some months are ‘missing’ – even though I posted during that time – does that mean that the plugin, for some reason, has ‘missed’ caching that page?
    – Is there any way of force-caching a particular url?
_ Is there a way of force-caching a whole month, if I think the plugin missed them?
    – Looking at the time stamps on some of the files/folders, they seem to correspond to a date/time AFTER initial caching was completed. This is true of some very old posts that I haven’t modified for a long time. Or, might these later dates simply be your PLugin ‘finishing the job’?

Thanks, in advance for your help – and for developing this Plugin. My site is the fastest it’s EVER been.

    Steve

    thank you too ??

A page is cached when the page is visited. Therefore, generating cache og all pages takes too much time so we added the preload feature. However, the preload feature works with WP Schedule system and WP Schedule works when the website receives visitors so you need to add a cron job as below to speed up the cache generation system.

Thank you Emre. Are you planning to answer my other questions too? I’m very interested in learning more about your excellent Plugin. Thank you, Steve

The server-time may be different from the wp time. Or cache may be deleted somehow. I cannot know it.

if you open the url via incognito mode, the page is cached.

_ Is there a way of force-caching a whole month?

    no, sorry.

Just left you a Review! All good news!!! ????. One final question. Can your cache be linked to the native WP search function (my search results take a long time to display) – it would better if the search used the cache files?

    Thanks,

Hi again Emre. I hope you are keeping well. Thanks again for developing this Plugin, it has helped speed up my site to a performance level that I have never experienced before. Could I ask you a question about manual pre-caching process?

    When I run
    https://MyBlogSiteNameHere/?action=wpfastestcache&type=preload, I get the following results…
    homepage: 1/1
    post: 3713/3713
    attachment: 30/17300
    page: 1/1
    category: 123/123
    tag: 6/6

I understand all the ‘labels’ (‘homepage’, ‘post’ etc) except one. My question is about the label ‘attachment 30/17300’ – am I right in thinking these are ‘images’? If so, do these numbers suggest…

    1. 30 of my images are cached in the cache folder within my main WP installation somewhere (where the rest of WP is installed)?
    2. Does that mean that eventually, all 17300 images will be cached in the cache folder on the primary server
If that is correct, currently all my images are hosted elsewhere, on a secondary server because of a limitation on the total number of files that can be held on the *primary* server (where the rest of WP is installed). I guess I’m trying to say that I don’t really want my images ‘cached'(stored) on the primary server. Or, have I misunderstood?

      Thank you, in advance.

“Attachment” does not contain only images. Attahment page does not mean the “attachment” source. Here is a sample attachment page: https://www.wpfastestcache.com/features/exclude-page/attachment/exclude-wizard/

and I checked your website. you can disable the “attachment” option of the preload feature.

Thanks Emre. Your replies are as fast as your cache plugin!??

So, I added an exclusion as per your advice, but when I ran a manual preload, it still looked as if ‘attachments’ were being included because the ‘count’ still increases when I run the preload manual url (see second screenshot) from ’60’ to ’66’ (when run a second time)

    Hope this makes sense. Thanks

you need to disable the “Attachments” option and save the settings of wp fastest cache and clear all cache.

    (@stevepalmeratwordpress)

    Hi Emre
Thank you again. So just adding ‘attachments’ in the exclude tab is not enough, I need to de-select them as well them as well. If I *just* deselect using the option in your screen shot above but DON’T add attachments in the exclude tab, what happens?

When I cleared the cache last time, it took around 15 hours to cache everything again, so I might leave that for a while! ?? . Cheers again! I really appreciate your fast responses to all my queries

no need to exclude. just disable the attachment option.

WP_CRON works slowly so I have alread recommended you to set a cron job as below.

Thanks for the reminder Emre. My next job is to set the cron job! ????
