noob questions on main page widget function

  • Hello from germany,

    i am in the process of creating my new homepage and love the canape theme.
    However i have some difficulties in using the three main page widgets correctly.
    1.) In the sample theme these show appetizers, main course, desserts. I would like to use them for something else and would like to link to a seperate page (in my case food, beverage and rentals – we do catering) if you click on the widget area. Is that possible and if yes, how is it done ?
    I found the menu function and have activated the Jetpack Plugin but see no possibility to link the widget areas to the menu. In my case i would like to link to a seperate page (like from the main menu for example).
    2.) Second question is how can i create a hover effect of the three widget areas like in the sample theme ?

    EDIT: Just found out how to link the widget areas to a htttp-link and I put in the sites i wanted to link to. This works now

    So only question number 2 about the hovering effect would be open.
    Any help is greatly appreciated !!
