• Basically i started a website a few months ago after getting hosting – https://www.aboveandbelow.org, i tried wordpress but impatiently removed it because it gave me a headache, i then went on to purchase serif webplus software and have been using that for the last few months,(a waste of money i now think),

anyways last night i thought id retry wordpress and use it for a archives system on my websiten now that i have had a few months getting used to running a website, and tbh im quite impressed its a wicked tool and im actually thinking of using it for my whole website,

    here in lies the problem

basically i want to be able to use pages for static content ( not blog posts ) i looked at creating a page but when i do even if type or dont type in a title or description when i publish it comes up like a blog post, the question i have is there a way to make static pages with only widgets and not blog type posts

id appreciate any help you guys can offer

  • Try creating a page with the default theme twentyeleven. It should show up as its own entry on the navigation menu.

If what you’re looking for is a static front page, check out the following link.

no thats not what i mean, first of all im using a theme i created myself

and i want to be able to create multiple static pages were there is nothing but widget boxs, not blog post on the page

if you create a new page view it and you will see theres like a blog post on it and thats what im trying to remove

ok so.. first of all go to settings>reading and there change the front page display option to a static page(as fonglh said) and select the page u need to be ur homepage next create remove all the categories , tags etc. next create your static pages..next add em to your menu appearance>menus>custom links.
adjust your widgets and i guess thts it

    sorry for bad english

    good luck

Take out the function calls to ‘the_content()’ from your theme files.
