    Hello!

    I’m having a strange issue with a little bit of custom code (Restrict Categories Pro Plugin) I use to restrict one of our product categories to be wholesale only. However, I’m getting a noindex, follow on categories that are not restricted.

    qevon.com

    I went through Yoast and made sure the categories weren’t set to noindex, and did a plugin test on everything. The only time the no index disappeared was when I turned off either plugin. It is injecting this code into the page headers:
    https://www.qevon.com/product-category/one-of-a-kind/
    <meta name=”robots” content=”noindex, follow” />

    Thats from a page with no restrictions enabled. When I turn the Restrict Categories plugin off, it changes to this:
    <meta name=”robots” content=”index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1″ />
    If I deactivate the Yoast plugin, it disappears all together.

    I’ve already spoken to the IgniteWoo plugin support and we would like to know if there’s something they need to add to the plugin to prevent this from happening. Both Plugins are currently active on the site.

  • 0Hi @drunksteel,

    We checked the example page and the meta robots tag and Yoast SEO outputs the meta robots tag with a value of “noindex, follow”, which is the default setting. We didn’t find any other robots meta tags or headers. Can you confirm that there is still a problem?

    From what you’ve described, it doesn’t look like the cause of the problem is Yoast SEO. However, if you or the restrict categories plugin developers have found a bug in Yoast SEO, they’re welcome to submit a bug report.

    If you’re looking for information to see if the plugin is using the right Yoast hooks to modify the robots tags, we recommend checking the Yoast developer portal.

    Unfortunatley, we’re not really able to give you support for a pro plugin since we’re not able to test it and the www.remarpro.com forum guidelines limit support to plugins available in the directory.

    Hi,

    We understand that when you have the Yoast SEO for WordPress plugin v15.9 and the Restrict Categories Pro plugin enabled, it’s outputting as ‘noindex’ in the source code.

    First, could you check if all of the settings are correct in the Yoast SEO plugin where you’ve set that particular category to show in the search results — https://yoast.com/help/how-do-i-noindex-urls/

    Secondly, could you then perform a conflict check and identify if this issue is reproducible with only those 2 plugins and a default WordPress theme such as TwentyTwenty — https://yoast.com/help/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/

    Lastly, we aren’t familiar with the code from the Restrict Categories Pro plugin, but you may want to check our documentation on when it will output the ‘noindex’ tag (e.g. if it is a non-public page) — https://developer.yoast.com/features/seo-tags/meta-robots/functional-specification/#resolving-conflict
