Non responding – Can’t post or save

  • Hi,

    I am using WP 2.5.1 for the last 6 months (I upgraded from earlier vesion through fantastico…don’t remember the earlier version) without any slightest of problem.

    Around 10 days back suddenly a strange problem cropped up. I have not done any tweak or anything different before this problem.

    I am not able to post or save.

    Everything is working fine except when I click post or save button…browser keeps on processing the page which never ends.

    I opened old posts, changed time-stamp and tried to publish or save but still no respite. I am failed to understand the problem.

    I deactivated all the plugins but it still didn’t work.

    Strangely all the other pages and functionalities are working fine without any problem.
    I am using Firefox 3.0.1
    Tried on IE7 and Opera but no solution.

    This forum is the last resort for me. Please help me out.

  • Here are a few possibilities:

    • You are having database problems.
    • Something has become corrupted in your WordPress installation. If so, upgrading could fix it.
    • You’ve been hacked.
    • Something may be causing errors, so if you have one, check the error_log file in your WordPress directory.

    Also try temporarily switching to the default theme and see if that fixes anything.

    Have same problem . Its concuretn even when switching to new theme.
    Any idea what to do?
    What to look for en error_log file?
    How to fix database?

    Thanks irridiax for some solutions.
    I don’t want to upgrade as I am not much confident of the upgradation.
    I can rule out hacking as there is not even slightest problem with rest of the blog.
    Can you let me know the location of error log file.

    Look in your main WordPress directory. If no errors have been generated, you won’t have an error_log file.
