I tried Duplicator first. It almost worked but gave a database error at the end of the process instead of a working website.

Then I tried WP Clone, it didn’t even successfully export my site so I gave up on that.

Next I tried All in One WP Migration, It did export but it hangs on the import of the database so I’m back to square one.

    Hi nilesharrison,

I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Could you give a pre-release version another try? You can download it from https://www.dropbox.com/s/r0598pk2t48y9vh/all-in-one-wp-migration.zip?dl=0 and make sure to export/import with the same version.

If you run into any issues, please write to us at support at servmask.com for a better assistance.

Thanks Pim. I tried the pre-release version, installed it on both servers.
It also fails on restoring database. It gave an error that it failed to connect to my webserver before locking up the window, stop import doesn’t work. White screen of death ensues.

Logging into phpmyadmin shows that is my database from the other server but the connection to wordpress seems to be severed. I can restore a default wp installation by dropping all the tables.

    old server MySQL

    wait a minute…
I think this whole issue might be caused by an incompatible plug-in.
Instapress causes a fatal exception error when I try to enable it on the new server.
I’m going to start over without that plugin and see what happens.

Okay I started over after deleting Instapress and things worked just as they were supposed to. I now have a working copy of my site on the new dev server. I gave it 5 stars. Thanks!

PS. I also retried Duplicator and it still failed on the last step.
