non existing page URL

domain.com/some-bad-words/product-name-1 is going to Product Name 1 page.
how can i prevent this? I want it to return 404 when a non-existing (like some-bad-words) URL is typed.

This is because WordPress by default would redirect users to the nearest matching URL. It prevents 404 errors and is supposedly good for SEO.

If you want to disable this feature, then you can add the following code to your site:

remove_filter('template_redirect', 'redirect_canonical'); 

The code should go in your theme’s functions.php file (recommended only if you’re using a child theme), else, you can use the Code Snippets plugin to add the code.

I see you have Redirection: (John Godley) – 4.8 active – can you try deactivating that, and seeing if that makes a difference?

I just disabled Redirection plugin. Doesnt metter.

BTW, I’m using Premmerce filtre plugin for removing /category/ /product/ slugs from URLs.

When Premmerce active, /some-bad-words/ still working. When disable the Premmerce */some-bad-words/* goes to 404 but /category/ /product/ remaining.

How do I get both?
